Philosophy

Christine sincerely cares about the mums she trains and strives to provide a fun and supportive environment where women can bring their children and workout safely while they make new friends.

Part of exercising safely after having a baby is gaining knowledge and understanding of your body. So education is at the core of every Mummylicious program; mums leave empowered through body awareness and effective muscle activation techniques.

Christine uses evidence-based exercise, paired to music to give a motivating and energised experience for her clients. Her unique ability to incorporate modifications helps assure everyone works to their ability and at their own pace. Programs are varied and address the physiological effects of pregnancy and birth so mums gain the stamina and endurance they need for their busy role.

Christine’s philosophy is that the best return to exercise is one that starts from the inside out. A woman’s body uniquely changes after pregnancy so her exercise program should too.
That’s why each client is individually assessed and educated on pelvic floor, abdominal engagement and modifications before progressing through more advanced movement and exercise patterns. This ensures a solid foundation of internal strength for the increased physical demands of motherhood while keeping them pain and injury free.

The group support is what makes Mummylicious famous on the Gold Coast. Social interaction and building a mummy network is the key to feeling motivated, staying accountable and supported through motherhood. With interactive warm-ups, post-workout catch ups and weekend events, Christine's clients make connections and feel part of a family. It’s a group of like-minded mums that socialise while they exercise. And what better motivation to stay committed, than knowing your friends are at the park waiting for you!

Experience

Christine has been in the health industry for over 30 years educating and inspiring her female clients to achieve their health goals through safe training techniques.

She began her career in Canada as a fitness instructor and her love of distance running led to presenting for the Sports Medicine Council Run Clinics on core strength and stability. After moving to Australia and completing a degree in Exercise Physiology she worked with back pain patients providing exercise rehabilitation through core education and self-management techniques.

In 2006 she became a mother to Levi and discovered all the joys and challenges a new baby brings. She decided to pivot her career after she quickly learned how much she loved working out with her baby in tow and the importance of connecting with other mums for support. There wasn’t much around in the way of safe exercise programs that would target the effects that pregnancy had had on her body. So with her vast knowledge of abdominal and pelvic floor physiology, she shifted focus and applied her techniques and experience to helping new mums heal and strengthen after having a baby.

So Mummylicious Fitness was born in 2007 as a devotion toward connecting mums and providing specialised postnatal group exercise under the safe guidance of a certified trainer all while having fun doing it!

Christine creates a safe and fun space for mums of all fitness levels. She is knowledgeable in understanding the physical and mental needs of new mums and provides support outside of the scope of a fitness trainer. Christine is professional, has a high energy and a big heart for all her mums and bubs that attend her classes. The location of her classes are also beautiful!

I joined mummylicious 8 weeks after having an emergency c-section and still had some abdominal separation. It has only been 12 weeks since joining and I am so happy with my progress and my time at mummylicious.

Not only am I feeling great about how my body feels but I have more energy on days I do class and I’ve met some amazing women along the way (people don’t tell you how lonely motherhood can be, which is only heightened with family living overseas). The social group I’ve met through mummylicious has been such a amazing support network.

I am also always super impressed with the knowledge Christine brings to the exercises, we’re not just working out for the sake of it, she targets the areas that need strengthened as a result of pregnancy and explains to us why and how to get that strength back.

The real icing on the cake though is being able to exercise in the beautiful outdoors while a team of “nannies” look after our little ones. These women/ baby whisperers spend the class rocking, playing or entertaining our babies so we can get the most out of every class. I am forever grateful to them!
